Shirley Cobb Wigley was born in Los Angeles but has resided in Lubbock, Texas for most of her life. She considers herself a native Texan and Lubbockite. Shirley has played with the Lubbock Symphony for 40 seasons. She received her B.M.E. from Texas Tech University where she studied under Dr. Virginia Kellogg, but she pursued a career in the banking industry, working in the federal compliance.
Shirley began studying violin in elementary school at Parson’s Elementary School in Lubbock. Shirley is also a performing member of the Roswell Symphony, Big Spring Symphony and Plainview Symphony. In her spare time Shirley likes to garden and is a practicing martial artist.
