Mary Saathoff assumed the role of Lubbock Symphony Orchestra’s President and CEO in February 2007 after serving as its Interim Executive Director. Dr. Saathoff’s interest in the community’s cultural endeavors is evident in her education and business experience and affiliations. She earned her PhD in Fine Arts (Music) from Texas Tech University, was co-owner of George Robinson Violins, and was senior director of Corporate Foundation Scholarships at TTU prior to coming to the LSO. She is an active member in St. John’s United Methodist Church and its choir and has served on the boards of South Plains Suzuki Strings Foundation and Lubbock Moonlight Musicals. Mary continues to combine her love of music and business experience to further the arts in the Lubbock community and the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra.

Briana Thompson Director of Patron Services

Briana Thompson has been working with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra for two years. As Director of Patron Services,she works dynamically with sponsors, guest artists, patrons, and prominent civil leaders and community members to uphold the symphony’s prestige and reputation. With a business degree from Texas Tech University, Briana has previously worked with the Chancellor’s Council and the University Library at TTU in Marketing and Development. Briana was married this past June and lives with her husband Matt and their Black Labrador Mazie.

Marilyn Bell* Accounting Services Director

Marilyn Bell grew up in Utah but has lived in Texas over half her life, and she and her husband have been in Lubbock for 18 years. After retiring from her accounting position at Texas Tech she decided life was not complete without a job and joined the symphony as a part-time number cruncher. She uses her paychecks to buy plane tickets to visit her three children, who have managed to scatter themselves half way across the globe.

Trace Boyd Director of Marketing

Tracy [Trace] J Boyd serves as Director of Marketing for the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra [LSO]. Mr. Boyd is a West Texas native, and completed his first year of college at the Eastman School of Music as a scholarship student in Vocal Performance. He then returned to Texas to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Design Communications with a minor in Vocal Performance from Texas Tech University. Mr. Boyd also holds a Master of Divinity degree with a concentration in Theology. Mr. Boyd has previously been a symphony subscriber to the Atlanta, Austin, Indianapolis, Dallas, and ENVISO symphony orchestras. Prior to his return to Lubbock he formerly served as President of ENVISO, a boutique professional symphony orchestra in the DFW region.

Alissa Madsen* Education Director

Alissa Madsen holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from the University of Southern California as well as a Master’s degree from the Juilliard School. She has performed in orchestras throughout the country as well as in numerous chamber ensembles. Ms. Madsen also has experience as a teaching artist as well as maintaining a private violin studio. When she’s not at work, she is busy trying to keep up with her energetic four-year-old son.

Gloria Cho Box Office Manager
Gloria was born in South Korea and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. After graduating from Vanderbilt University with a degree in English Literature, she worked as a teacher and Vice Director of Seodaemun Foreign School in Seoul, Korea for six years. Gloria is thrilled to make Lubbock her home along with her husband David.

Nathan Madsen* Personnel Manager

Nathan Madsen is the Personnel and Operations Manager for the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra as well as its Assistant Conductor, regularly leading the orchestra in Education and Pops concerts. He formerly held conducting positions in New York's Hudson Valley, teaching at Bard College and Rensselear Polytechnic Institute. He holds degrees from the University of Southern California and Bard College, and currently he is a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Orchestral Conducting from Texas Tech University.

Harrison Cason Web Support Intern
Harrison Cason serves as Web Support Intern for Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. He is from Lake Jackson, TX, and will be graduating with a degree in Management Information Systems in fall 2013 and will be pursuing a career in web development or programming.

David Austin Gutierrez Design Intern
Austin serves as Design Intern for the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. He was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. After he graduated Lubbock High School, he attended the University of Texas at San Antonio then transferred to Texas Tech University. He is working towards his undergraduate degree in Communication Design.

Svetlana Rybalko Marketing Intern
Svetlana Rybalko serves as Marketing Intern for the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. She has her MA in Public Relations from Ball State University, and is currently working towards a PhD in Mass Communications from Texas Tech University. She is a native of Siberia, Russia, having worked in education and with various non-profit organizations.

Julia Shannon Administrative Intern
Julia Shannon serves as the Administrative Intern for the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. Born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, she currently attends Texas Tech University and will graduate in the spring of 2014 with a Bachelors of Music in Violin Performance with Honors. She is also a violinist in the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra.

Ryan Miller Design Intern
Ryan Miller was born and raised in Cedar Park, Texas. After graduating from Cedar Park HS he went to Texas Tech University where he started out in Architecture before switching to Communication Design. After graduation he would ideally like to work with video games or movies, but would enjoy doing anything related to design.

Kathryn Webb serves as Marketing Intern for the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. She is from Midland, TX, and is a senior at Texas Tech University working towards her undergraduate degree in Advertising.
